Dosimeter

Trail BlazerThe dosimeter for Trailblazer was designed by Jesse Mee of the Air Force Research Laboratory. Its purpose is to monitor and report the radiation dose accumulated from space environment. It is composed of a RADFET detector transistor, a Nu-Dose bias and analog read-out microcircuit developed by Nu-Trek Corporation, and a PIC16F88 based ASIM used to digitize the output of the Nu-Dose and transfer the result to the I2C data bus. Initial calibration of the unit was performed at the AFRL Co-60 facility. The dosimeter is expected to experience a maximum of 10 Krad(Si) during the mission life and has been designed to be most sensitive at that dose level. The dosimeter instrument is implemented on a 1U board. A fully functional engineering unit equivalent in form, fit, and function to the flight unit has been delivered and is undergoing integration tests wit the Trailblazer system.
